Who we are
The MindType team makes MindType, an app for iPhone and iPad with a custom keyboard. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the MindType team, and "you" means the person who uses MindType.
By using MindType, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how MindType handles your data.
Using MindType
We give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use MindType on Apple devices that you own or control. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If it conflicts with these terms, Apple's agreement applies to that point.
You must be at least 13 years old to use MindType. If the law where you live sets a higher age for you to accept these terms, you must meet that age or have a parent or guardian accept them for you.
You keep all rights to the audio you record and the text you write or create with MindType. You allow us and the services in section 4 to process that audio and text only to provide the feature you asked for.
AI output
AI actions use a language model, and the model can make mistakes. It can change your meaning, add facts that are not true, or leave errors in place. Transcription can also mishear words, names and numbers.
Read every result before you send it or act on it. Take extra care with work, legal, medical and money matters. You are responsible for the text you send and for what you do with it.
Third-party services
MindType depends on services from other companies. Cloudflare runs our server. Inworld transcribes audio with Groq's Whisper model and turns text into speech. OpenRouter passes text from AI actions to xAI, whose Grok model writes the result.
These companies process your data under their own terms and privacy policies, and you must also follow their usage rules when you use MindType. We do not control their services, and they can change or stop them.
Acceptable use
Do not use MindType to:
- Break the law or violate the rights of others.
- Create content that harasses, threatens or deceives people, or that sexualizes minors.
- Attack our server, overload it or get around its limits.
- Call our server from anything other than the MindType app, or resell access to it.
- Copy, decompile or modify the app, except where the law allows it.
We may block an install that breaks these rules.
Availability
MindType needs an internet connection for dictation, AI actions and TTS. It has no offline mode. Typing with the keyboard works without a connection.
Our server limits how many requests one install can send each minute. We may change, limit or stop features at any time, and we do not promise that the service will always be available or free of errors.
Disclaimers and liability
We provide MindType "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties of any kind, including warranties that MindType fits a particular purpose, works without interruption, or produces accurate text.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost profits or text you sent. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for MindType, if any.
Some countries do not allow these limits. Nothing in these terms limits rights that you have under the law of your country and that cannot be waived.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will post the new version on this page and change the date at the top. If you keep using MindType after a change, you accept the new terms.
